Ford has confirmed the Mustang GTD is undertaking an official Nürburgring lap programme, with the goal of setting a production-car record. Early sector times reported by trackside observers suggest the supercharged V8 muscle car is genuinely quick.
Born from racing
The GTD borrows suspension logic from Ford’s GT3 racing programme, including a multilink rear axle and active aerodynamics. It is the most extreme road-going Mustang ever built.
Ford has not published a time yet, but engineers are targeting sub-7-minute territory — territory normally reserved for European mid-engine exotics. A full announcement is expected later this season.
