Mercedes-AMG has crowned the new GT lineup with the 63 S E Performance, a plug-in hybrid flagship packing a combined 831 horsepower.
Hybrid, but make it fast
The 4.0-litre biturbo V8 drives the rear wheels, while a 201 HP electric motor on the rear axle fills the torque gaps. The result is a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint of 2.9 seconds and an electric-only range of around 13 kilometres.
AMG insists the electrification is about performance, not economy — the motor is tuned for responsiveness, with energy recovered under braking redeployed for bursts of boost. It becomes the most powerful series-production car the Affalterbach brand has ever built.
